Performance Analysis of Message-Driven Direct Sequence/Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum Communication System

  • Direct Sequence/Frequency Hopping (DS/FH) spread spectrum technology which has excellent performance on anti-interference is widely used in modern military and civil communication systems. In order to solve the spectral efficiency problem of DS/FH spread spectrum signals, an innovative Message-Driven Direct Sequence/Frequency Hopping (MD-DS/FH) spread spectrum communication system is proposed in this paper. At the transmitter of MD-DS/FH spread spectrum communication system, frequency hopping pattern is driven by part of information rather than by a pre-determined pseudonoise (PN) binary-valued sequence as in conventional DS/FH spread spectrum communication system. And the envelope detector is used to detect frequency at the receiver. In this paper, the closed-form expressions of Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of MD-DS/FH signals under AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels are derived and validated by computer simulations. The Results of theoretical analysis and simulation verification demonstrate that the proposed communication system improves the spectral efficiency and BER and anti-barrage noise jamming performance of DS/FH communication system.
