Two 3-D Scattering Centers Extraction Methods by Using Micro-Motion Information of Ballistic Targets

  • Three-dimensional (3-D) scattering centers extraction technology has been widely used in target scattering diagnosis, modeling and target identification. Combining the precession information of micro-motion target, the angle information of radar can be obtained indirectly. After analyzing this transformation, two 3-D scattering centers extraction methods were presented in this paper. Theoretically, the mapping principle of 1-D scattering center to 3-D position was reflected in algebra and geometry respectively. In algorithm, equation solving method was to solve the matrix equation based on the algebraic relations between the 1-D radial distance and 3-D position; spherical fitting method was to extract scattering centers from the mapping graph according to the spherical distribution of 1-D projection data and intersection point of sphere and the diameter through the origin indicated the scattering centers. In addition, Two methods were all verified by experiments developed with simulated and measured data.Finally, the features and performance of two methods were compared and the result indicated that the spherical fitting method is better than the equation solving method by 15dB under the same SNR.
