Research on Ground Radar Anti-Chaff-Jamming Technology

  • Chaff is an important and effective passive jamming method. After the chaff has been launched, its speed decreases relatively slowly while the Radar Cross Section (RCS) enlarges quickly, so the signal amplitude of chaff is far bigger than the aircraft’s, but the two are in the same “distance gate”, which causes that signal of the target may can’t be detected. In this paper, based on ground radar system, firstly, adaptive moving target indication method is used to distinguish the aircraft and chaff signal in the frequency domain, both in tracking and searching frame. Secondly, the peak of linear frequency modulation signal with Doppler frequency will shift after pulse compression processing, a LFM signal, pulse width is much wider than band width, is proposed to be used to separate the aircraft and chaff signal in time domain. The results of radar signal level simulation show that the proposed algorithms can do well in anti chaff jamming, then the target’s signal can be obtained quickly and correctly.
