Suppression of Noise Convolution Jamming with FDA-MIMO Radar

  • ‍ ‍Smart noise convolution jamming is generated based on digital radio frequency memory (DRFM), which has suppressive and deceptive jamming effects, degrading the detection performance of the victim radar systems. In order to solve this problem, a noise convolution smart jamming countermeasure based on frequency diverse array (FDA)-multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) radar is proposed in this paper. The jamming signal modulated by the convolution of the radar transmit signal and the noise signal exhibits different distribution characteristics in the range-Doppler dimension than the target echo. Accordingly, the jamming samples in the Doppler clear area is firstly obtained by utilizing the white noise characteristic of the jamming signal in the Doppler domain. Then, the jamming covariance matrix is estimated by selecting the samples by each range bin. Finally, the range-angle-dependent two dimensional adaptive matched filter is constructed, and the jamming signal is suppressed due to the range mismatch. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
