Joint Optimization Method of OFDM Radar Signal Design and Processing

  • ‍ ‍In this paper, focusing on the mismatching problem between the integrated signal design method and signal processing approach of airborne radar, a joint optimization method of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) radar signal design and processing is proposed. Firstly, a linear receiving model was established based on transmitting and receiving links and we proposed pulse compression and communication demodulation methods according to the least square estimation theory. Then, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) after radar pulse compression and the SNR after communication demodulation were deduced individually and a weighted joint optimization problem was formulated. Since the optimization problem is NP hard, we solved it by the alternated direction method of multiplier. Finally, the simulation results showed that, by adjusting the parameters dynamically, the proposed method can meet the requirements of radar and communication integration and maintain the performance of detection and communication.
