Thinking of the Prospect of Software-Based Radar Technology

  • ‍ ‍In view of the characteristics of the rapid and complex development of modern radar technology, This paper first points out the challenges that radar technology faces in terms of equipment R&D efficiency and replacement speed, and summarizes the domestic and international development, and points out that software-based radar is a powerful means to cope with these challenges. Then, the definition of software radar architecture is given and a four-layer architecture model including physical layer, middleware layer, component layer and application layer is proposed. On this basis, combined with the concept of open system, the characteristics of componentized design method of software-based radar are analyzed: abstraction, componentization, reusability, customizability, self-containment, interoperability, loose coupling. Next, it is further pointed out that the technical positioning of software radar is a platform technology, which will bring more possibilities for radar equipment to deal with various challenges. Finally, the future development direction of software-based radar technology and the problems that need to pay attention to are sorted out and summarized.
