Abstract
Audio processing localization based on Head-related transfer function is the key technology of spatial audio rendering at present. Head-related transfer function is greatly influenced by individual differences, but due to its high measurement cost, non-individual head-related transfer function is often used in practical applications. Regarding the role of individual head-related transfer function, under different experimental conditions, the conclusions given by different researchers are different. This paper summarizes the research on three main aspects of its localization performance: increasing the horizontal and vertical localization accuracy; reducing the inside-the-head localization effect; reducing the front-to-back confusion phenomenon. By analyzing the acoustic principles of individual head-related transfer function to enhance the sense of hearing, and comprehensively examining the existing subjective experimental results, this paper shows that the use of individual head-related transfer function for spatial audio rendering is helpful to improve the sense of immersion, and it shows different performances for different localization attributes.
