A Method Based on Closed-Form and Robust Chinese Remainder Theorem for Range Estimation of Two Targets

  • ‍ ‍In order to improve the performance in moving target detection, Pulsed Doppler (PD) radar always adopts High Pulse Repetition Frequency (HPRF) signal to obtain better target detection in complex weather clutter and ground clutter. However, HPRF will lead to range ambiguity for detecting remote-range targets. Traditional solution to solve range ambiguity adopts Chinese remainder theorem (CRT) based on stagger-period model, but the unknown correspondence between the target and visual range in advance leads to difficulty in multi-target range estimation via CRT algorithm. This paper proposes a method based on closed-form robust Chinese remainder theorem for range estimation of two targets. The method proposed in this paper can accurately and accurately estimate the true range of two targets from the erroneous apparent ranges without considering the correspondence between the target and visual range. Both theoretical analysis and simulation result demonstrate that the method is able to effectively estimate ranges of two targets for the high PRF radar.
