A Radar-Embedded Communication Verification System Based on Software Defined Radio

  • Radar-Embedded Communication (REC) is a new type of covert communication method that embeds communication signals in radar backscattered echoes. Compared with the traditional covert communication method, REC has unique advantages and has very broad application prospects in the military and civilian fields. This paper develops a set of REC experiment system based on Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) hardware platform and Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Engineering Workbench (LabVIEW) software platform, and tests and analyzes the reliability and anti-interception performance of the system, which preliminarily verifies the feasibility of REC. The test results show that compared with the simulation results, the system has a certain performance loss, but within the controllable range. Moreover, this system is closer to the real scene and can be used as a test platform for REC technology, laying a foundation for REC to move from theory to reality.
