FDA-MIMO Radar Moving Target Detection with LFM Orthogonal Modulation

  • The proposal of frequency diversity array radar has attracted much attention, frequency diversity array-multiple input multiple output (FDA-MIMO) system is the most likely radar system model to be applied now. For the problem of moving target walking across range unit under FDA-MIMO model, this paper proposes to use the keystone transformation combined with FDA-MIMO to deal with it. This technology has the following advantages: FDA-MIMO can decouple angle-range beam naturally, accurately locate the targets’ angle-range by two-dimensional beamforming and solve the problem of range information loss caused by time-varying factors after matching filtering . The keystone algorithm can be combined with FDA-MIMO to rectify range migration, which facilitates the adoption of multi-pulse accumulation technology to improve the detection signal-to-noise ratio. Theoretical and simulation results show that the combination of FDA-MIMO and keystone transformation can well deal with the range migration problem of moving target detection and improve the detection probability of weak and low observable targets.
