ADS-B Spoofing Detection Method Using TDOA Correlation Coefficient

  • At present, the ADS-B system compares the TDOA calculated by the aircraft report and the TDOA calculated by the time when the two base stations receive ADS-B signals to detect the abnormal position of the aircraft, this method is simple, However, the performance of this method is greatly affected by the base station synchronization error and aircraft report position error. This paper proposes an ADS-B spoofing interference detection method using TDOA correlation coefficients: this method also need two base stations to receive signals, firstly, the time difference between the two base stations is calculated by the receiver decoding reports; secondly, the time difference is obtained by the two base stations. Collecting each track point of the same track can obtain a set of time difference calculated by the report and a set of time difference calculated by the base station respectively, finally, we calculate the Pearson correlation coefficient of the two sets of TDOA to determine whether the target is a real aircraft or a ghost one. This method follows that it does not need the inversion of the location problem, and it is robust to the synchronization error of the base station and aircraft report position error. The simulation experiments have verified the effectiveness of the method.
