Low Complexity Hybrid Beamforming Transmission Design for Millimeter Wave Split Sub-arrays

  • In order to enhance the system performance and expand the coverage of millimeter wave transmission, hybrid digital and analog (large-sale) multiple input multiple output (MIMO) transmission technology has been widely concerned. This paper considered millimeter wave communication systems with split sub-arrays hybrid beamforming architecture and researched a kind of algorithm for optimization of beam steering vectors with low complexity based on codebooks. A method for two-way alternating optimization on beam steering vector of each antenna sub-array both at the transmitter and at the receiver was proposed, which adopted by the approach of alternating optimization and the idea of interference alignment. The proposed algorithm has the characteristics of fast convergence rate and low computational complexity. The result turns out the validity and the advantages over low complexity of the split sub-arrays hybrid beamforming transmission based on proposed algorithm.
