Abstract:
Polar codes ,proposed by Arikan ,is a new channel encoding method based on channel polarization theory which can achieve the channel capacity of binary-input discrete memoryless channel. We present the constructions of polar codes for the cases of Rician channels with side information or without side information in this paper. We further do some research on the performance of the constructed polar codes by numerical simulations. The results show that the performance of polar codes is better than that of LDPC codes.The error bit rate gets lower with the increase of Rician factor K. Furthermore, the performance of polar codes with the side information is better than those code without the side information in Rician channel. The excellent performance of the polar codes in Rician fading channels make a promising channel code in the future mobile communications.
