Abstract:
Video enhancement technology plays an important role in the field of video surveillance, video conference and so on, for the reason that much of the details are lost dealing to the low-illumination environment or hard bias light. A low contrast video enhancement based on illumination nonlinear mapping and interframe information fusion is proposed in this paper. The enhancement is achieved in the layer of illumination to increase the contrast ratio. The video image is first translated from RGB space into HSI space in order to extract the illumination level and then enhanced by the map of β-function. The parameters which can give the best result to the evaluation criteria is determined as the parameters of β-function. Finally the enhanced image is reconstructed to finish the enhancement of the video. The proposed method enforces better appearance and lower complex rate in contrast to other related methods. The result of the computer simulation is also given.
